LAMP Lab Director
Laura Getz. Laura is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego. She received a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Music from Elizabethtown College and an MA and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Virginia. Prior to coming to USD, she was a Mendel Science Experience Postdoctoral Fellow at Villanova University, where she was a member of the Word Recognition and Auditory Perception lab. Her big-picture goal is to investigate the importance of interactions to understanding auditory perception, including the interaction of bottom-up and top-down processing and interactions within and across sensory modalities.
LAMP Lab Research Assistants
Sara is a senior at the University of San Diego. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Chemistry while on the Pre-Med track. Outside of lab, Sara is a member of the Student Ambassador program at USD, loves to be active, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Hannah is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of San Diego. She is currently majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, she plans on applying to medical school to pursue a career as a physician.
Michelle is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of San Diego. She is studying Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Biomedical Ethics. After graduation, she hopes to attend medical school and become a psychiatrist. When she's not painting, Michelle loves to make pottery, eat ramen, and lead day trips to Tijuana.
Haley is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a graduate degree in linguistics and, in combination with Neuroscience, perform research in the field of Alzheimer’s or Artificial Intelligence. Outside of the lab, Haley is the captain of the USD Swim & Dive team, enjoys hiking, and is in constant search of new coffee shops.
Kunal is a transfer student starting his senior year at USD and is majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. After finishing his undergraduate degree, Kunal plans on going into a Public Health focused career in which he can help influence policy and health related outcomes for the general public. Kunal is also interested in the worlds of politics, ethics, and consciousness.
Tara is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Biology. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant in pediatrics while advocating for social justice in medicine and healthcare accessibility. Tara is involved in campus multicultural organizations and enjoys photography and cooking vegetarian dishes.
Jordaine is a senior at the University of San Diego and is working towards a Behavioral Neuroscience major with a minor in Biomedical Ethics and Chemistry. She is interested in either pursuing graduate studies in the field of neuroscience or attending medical school. Outside the lab, Jordaine is involved with USD Medical Brigades, loves coffee shops, hiking, and running on the beach.
Ted is a third year Psychology major with a minor in Sociology who joined the LAMP Lab in Spring 2020. After graduation, he is looking to pursue a career in general therapy and eventually establish his own private practice. Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing billiards with his friends, watching movies, and trying new places to eat.
LAMP Lab Alumni
Marie graduated in May 2020 with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience and a minor in Changemaking. Following graduation, Marie will be spending a year of service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps working as a Clinical Coordinator for the Mercy Primary Care Center in Detroit, Michigan. During that time, she will also be applying to medical schools in hopes of starting in Fall 2021.
