LAMP Lab Director
Laura Getz. Laura (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego. She received a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Music from Elizabethtown College and an MA and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Virginia. Prior to coming to USD, she was a Mendel Science Experience Postdoctoral Fellow at Villanova University, where she was a member of the Word Recognition and Auditory Perception lab. Her big-picture goal is to investigate the importance of interactions to understanding auditory perception, including the interaction of bottom-up and top-down processing and interactions within and across sensory modalities.
LAMP Lab Research Assistants
Sam is a senior majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Sociology and Italian. Following graduation from USD, she is debating between getting a Masters in order to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist and entering a PhD program in order to become a professor of Psychology. Outside of the lab, Sam is involved in several other campus organizations, including the D1 swim team and the Active Minds club (which seeks to reduce stigmas surrounding mental health through education and action).
Alex is a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Philosophy. She joined LAMP lab in spring 2022. After graduation, she plans on attending graduate school in the UK and working in the field of social psychology and or mental health. In her free time she enjoys reading, watching scary movies, hanging at the beach with friends/her dog, and traveling!
